The reopening
of Casa Romagnosi following the approval of the "recovery an restoration
project" is dedicated to the recovery of the traditional hotel vocation
which marked the activity of the Salsomaggiore jurist's birthplace
throughout almost a century, from the beginning of the 20th century
up to few years ago.
In fact, at the beginning of the 20th century the interventions
to extend and renovate which were carried out on the original architectural
foundation were all aimed at giving Gian Domenico Romagnosi's birthplace
a hotel identity: it was the north façade, facing Piazza Berzieri
to have undergone the most significant modifications mainly to increase
accommodation capacity.

In
1978 the main façade was demolished and seven unsafe garrets
were knocked down. Casa Romagnosi was a hotel which owed
it success to its discretion and privacy.
Even though it was situated in the town centre, it benefited
from the peace and tranquillity which was a prerogative
of hotels in the suburbs and this central position was an
advantage for its clients who could reach the spas on foot
in a matter of minutes.

|
It boasted the ranking of a first-class hotel with its 63 rooms
and it is a building of "important interest" having been declared
National Monument in accordance with the Romagnosi's birthplace.
The completely renovated Casa Romagnosi Hotel was inaugurated in
December 2005.
